Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre has been granted outline planning consent for a significant redevelopment and extension.
The shopping centre, located south of Gillingham in Kent and anchored by Sainsbury's and Marks & Spencer, is held on a long-lease basis jointly by British Airways Pension Fund and British Steel Pension Fund. The proposed extension will see the addition of some 70,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, substantial investment in the infrastructure of the scheme and a huge step forward in the public realm provisions. A strong emphasis has been placed on maintaining and underlining Hempstead Valley as a focal point for the local and wider community, with inclusion of community facilities and services - alongside creating the opportunity for retailers to open in this successful out of town shopping centre.
GCW act jointly with DTZ on behalf of the shopping centre’s owners. For further information please contact Keith Whale or Chris Baker
